Though much of his early life remains a mystery, Blackbeard most likely began his life as Edward Teach in the sailing port of Bristol, England. Heck, I am in my mid 30s and I enjoyed this book! The book covers all the interesting stuff from her life and is written in a way kids can understand and enjoy. The book is great about highlighting everything she did for the Lewis and Clark expedition and that she did it at such such a young age! She is truly remarkable and a woman that all little girls can look up to as they can see she was strong and persevered during the hardest of times. Of course I know about Sacagawea as I do not live under a rock but it has been a long time since I sat down to read a book about her and this is the first one I have read specifically for young readers. Through this engaging book, kids will understand the reasons that today, 200 years later, she is still remembered and immortalized on a golden dollar coin. Sacagawea was only sixteen when she made one of the most remarkable journeys in American history, traveling 4500 miles by foot, canoe, and horse-all while carrying a baby on her back! Without her, the Lewis and Clark expedition might have failed.
